The Phoenix Science Classroom Project is a community-focused initiative led by the 118-U Turkish Leos, created to support the long-term recovery of children in Antakya following the earthquake. The project aims to establish a fully equipped laboratory classroom within a community center, providing a dedicated space where children can engage with science through hands-on learning and creative exploration.
Designed for children ages 7 to 15, the classroom will offer STEM-based activities, laboratory materials, and interactive educational experiences that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence. Through practical workshops and age-appropriate resources, children will have the opportunity to learn, discover, and develop essential skills in an inspiring environment.
Beyond academic support, the project seeks to contribute to children's emotional and social development by providing a safe, welcoming space where they can reconnect, create, and grow. As part of Antakya’s recovery journey, the classroom is envisioned as more than a place of learning; it is a space of hope, resilience, and renewed possibility for the younger generation.
This initiative is planned to be realized through LCIF support under the Leo Service Grant disbursement, enabling the 118-U Turkish Leos to create a sustainable and meaningful educational space that will leave a lasting positive impact on both children and the wider community.
